Gadwall
I saw Gadwall Ducks here on September 29, 2017, and several times in October, 2019. These are the only times I have noticed them here.

Greater Scaups
A group of these ducks were observed in a larger group of other ducks commonly seen here on April 4, 2020.

White Winged Scoters
Until recent years, Scoters have been the most numerous ducks I see. Hundred have gathered for many years. But the White Winged Scoters were with them only in October, 2020.

Osprey
I see eagles quite frequently here but have see an Osprey only a couple of times, September, 2017 and May, 2020.

Pigeon Guillemot
Although these ducks are reported by others locally I rarely see them here. They were observed in the fall and spring in 201`4, all summer in 2015, Fall, 2016, Spring, 2017, Spring, 2018, and in the summer in 2022.

Northern pintail
This is a large, beautiful duck that I have seen here only once, October 13, 2017. It was all alone.

Kildeer
I rarely see shore birds here. But I observed a small group of Killdeer on the beach when the tide was out in August, 2017, In October in 2019 and again in early August in 2020. They are difficult to spot but their unique call in hard to miss.

Spotted Sandpiper
As stated above I do not see shore birds other than the always present Great Blue Heron. But in addition to Killdeers I also saw a Spotted Sandpiper a few times in front of my house an also down the beach when kayaking. I took this picture in May 2011 on the kayak trip down the beach. I saw one on my beach in the Fall of 2012. They are hard to identify by color but have a trait of constantly bobbing up and down which easily confirms their identity.
Yellowlegs
The only other shore bird I have seen here is a lone Yellowlegs, probably the lesser Yellowlegs in April 2010. I have no trouble with this identity as they are regulars in the lagoon behind my cabin on Whidbey Island. I did not get a photo opportunity for this one time visitor.
Trumpeter Swans

I saw this group of Trumpeter Swans here on March 18, 2024. This is the first time I have seen them here. I hope it is not the last time. They are huge and very beautiful. They only stayed for the afternoon and then were on their way.
