
Merganser Parade
I was treated to a Common Merganser Parade yesterday. Always a treat. They have been hanging around lately down by the creek. And they put on parades occasionally.

I saw my first Common Loon of the spring yesterday and he is here again this morning. He is right on schedule. The Loons appear in early April and are here through May. They return again for September and October. I am very pleased that I am on their migration

This group of male and female Red Breasted Mergansers has been hanging around. They are beautiful ducks that often appear in large groups. No matter how many come by, I always enjoy them.

We have been having beautiful sunny mornings lately and I have been joined for my morning coffee by this beautiful Common Goldeneye. He is alone and has been here every morning. I am very happy to have him join me.

I was surprised to look up and see a couple dozen big white ducks out in my bay. It appears they are Trumpeter Swans. Some have been reported in other local areas this spring. I have not seen them here before, at least not in the last 15 years. I

I continue to see Mergansers frequently. Sometimes it is a single Common Merganser or Red Breasted Merganser. Yesterday it was about a dozen Common Mergansers cruising by. They continue to be very entertaining.
