Wood Ducks

I have been watching for Wood Ducks as long as I have lived here. They are the most exotic of the local ducks. I have seen them a few times in other places but never in Gig Harbor and certainly not in front of my house. They are fresh water ducks. But I saw them in December, 2020, as I was walking a nature trail around a local pond of fresh water. I have seen them several times since over the next few years. This year, December, 2023 there are many more. I have seen about 6 males and 5 females a few times and a friend recently saw 20 Wood Ducks in this pond. I so am happy they seem to be wintering in this small pond.
